now my music player plays exactly 1 1/2 songs and the phone freezes.  any idea how to fix this?

I assume you're running the JIT version?  I would try noobnl's JIT package, it's supposed to be more stable.  Otherwise go back to my optimized libdvm without JIT.

The non-jit version should be moved out into the Development Board or the Kernel/Kitchen/ROM Board

The jit version still needs some work (crashes/freezes etc)

but EVERYONE with a moment should install atleast the non-jit version it is a free 50% performance gain.
There are some issues with some apks force closing, but they can be fixed and it isnt really the fault of the lib
but poorly written apks.

Odd issue. When I load up google.com, browser closes. This website seems fine, but if I find other's I'll update my post.

Try not allowing location, that has helped me since I updated to 2.1

Also, just to confirm, link in OP is for the JITv8?

how do i change this if it closes before i can get it to load?

Go to your settings menu, then apps, manage apps, find browser, clear defaults.  Restart your browser and it will ask if youhu want to use location.  Check the box to remember preference and hit decline.  Should be good to go from there.  Sorry it took so long to get back to you, getting ready for Memorial Day cookout.

Not exactly.  The link in the OP is for my libdvm.so compiled with JIT enabled.  For JITv8.x noobnl used my libdvm.so compiled with JIT and my compiled libnativehelper.so and added some configuration options to make it all more stable.

Thanks for clearing that up, robotguy!  JIT v8.3 has been giving CDMA lockups for me...  probably going back to the non-JIT.

+1 for the optimization!

Ok, so the calculator update is not working right for some people.  I need to figure out why and fix it.  In the mean time, a workaround should be to FIRST manually delete both Calculator.apk and Calculator.odex from /system/app and SECOND apply the update.  It's probably a good idea to manually clear dalvik cache too for good measure.

Removed it manually and then applied the zip as you indicated which resolved the issue. Thanx.

I agree. JIT stuff should be in the testerboard, and this should be in the development board; This rocks.

The actual JIT package is more stable then using just the optimized libdvm.so.

I also agree.  JIT still has some bugs.  non-JIT is rock solid.  Way to go!

Tested this for several days, works rock solid. The non-JIT version does need to be moved to the development forum, it's rock solid. Thank you for this awesome work! ;D

:o I've been running this optimized libdvm.so since it was posted and I haven't had a single freeze or reboot... if I was running just JIT I would be on my 5th reboot minimum.

JIT is stable with 90% of programs however there are some uses that will still cause reboot/freeze
regardless of version - mostly music player but also video player.

And anything that uses a mssive amount of memory such as games.

I think he means just the optimized libdvm.so compiled with JIT.

I've updated the zips to properly clear dalvik cache and fix the calculator update problem.  The calculator update should now work for everybody.
